William Sutton, Assistant Commerce Secretary, to Keynote at 2008 IndustryWeek Best Plants Conference

NEW YORK (March 25, 2008) - Penton Media's IndustryWeek announced today that Rear Admiral William G. Sutton CAE, U.S. Navy (Ret.), the U.S. Commerce Department‘s assistant secretary of manufacturing and services for the International Trade Administration, will deliver a keynote address at the sixth annual IW Best Plants Conference, April 1-3, in Milwaukee, Wis. Sutton will speak on "The Competitiveness of the Manufacturing and Service Sector in the 21st Century Economy." He serves as the federal government's lead advocate for U.S. industry, and his office provides support for U.S. companies to help them compete both at home and abroad. He works with other federal agencies, industry partners, and Congress to ensure that policies, regulations and laws are evaluated with an eye toward competitiveness.
Sutton is one of four keynote speakers at the 2008 IW Best Plants Conference. Other keynoters include: James McCaslin, president and COO of Harley-Davidson Motors Company; Todd Teske, executive vice president and COO of Briggs & Stratton Corporation; and Lee Corso, sports analyst for ESPN's College GameDay.
The conference will bring together approximately 750 plant managers and other manufacturing decision-makers and features an agenda covering strategies and best practices in areas such as lean manufacturing, six sigma programs, employee training and sustaining manufacturing excellence.
