AMTD Signs On To Support American Machinist’s Machine Shop Workshop

3/9/2007

NEW YORK (March 9, 2007) - Penton Media's American Machinist® announced today that the American Machine Tool Distributors Association (AMTDA) has signed on to support the publication's Machine Shop Workshop, to be held in Cleveland on November 7-9, 2007 at the Cleveland Marriott Downtown at Key Center. Additional information on the workshop is available at www.americanmachinist.com/workshop2007 .

The Workshop is an intensive learning environment where shop owners and operations managers can use proprietary benchmarking data to develop a strategic improvement plan, tailored to the specific needs of their plant.

"We're proud to have AMTDA's support for this important event," said Bob Rosenbaum, publisher of American Machinist. "The Association's goal of making vital contributions to North American manufacturing is wholly consistent with our objectives for the Machine Shop Workshop - it's all about helping make the manufacturing sector in the United States more productive, profitable and competitive in the context of a global marketplace."

"AMTDA is pleased with this new partnership with American Machinist to strengthen the operations and profitability of machine shops across North America," said John Healy, AMTDA President. On behalf of our members, we welcome this opportunity to identify and distribute the information and best practices that will further improve the competitiveness of American manufacturing."

The workshop is closely tied to American Machinist's benchmarking initiative and the magazine's "10 Best Machine Shops" program. The benchmarking initiative provides an extensive body of data on machining operations that shops can use to evaluate operational performance and identify areas for improvement. The "10 Best Machine Shops" program honors top-performing shops, based on comparisons to a standard set of key measurements.
